Assessment of Supply Chain Disruptions Following Conflict in Ukraine

The Commission (DG GROW) is conducting a survey within the industry to map possible disruptions in supply chains due to the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

After consulting its members, Cerame-Unie prepared a memo assessing the possible disruptions to the supply chain for the different sectors of the ceramic industry. The main elements of concern are possible disruptions of raw materials supply from the region, as well as the increase in the price of energy and/or shortage thereof.

On 10 March 2022, the Commission’s Chief Trade Enforcement Officer, Mr Denis Redonnet, convened a meeting with industry representatives to obtain more information on the impact of the conflict and to debrief industrial stakeholders on the way going forward. CU Director General Renaud Batier took part in the meeting.

Members are invited to continue providing their input to Cerame-Unie’s Secretariat on the matter.

The European Commission (DG GROW) is currently consulting industry associations about the impact on our sectors arising from energy crisis and the invasion of Ukraine. For this purpose, we would like to proceed with the following online consultation form through which CU members can continuously provide updated input reflecting the impact of the current crisis.  One question also consults CU members about specific measures that would be required in support of our sectors. After having received your input, we will communicate the ceramic sectors’ response to the European Commission.

In this context, we kindly call on all CU members to complete the questionnaire through this link.  The measures designed to preserve confidentiality are fully explained in the questionnaire. (LP+ NH).
